ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 Full Job Description

ICAI is inviting applications from graduates with managerial, administrative and operational experience for the position of Branch In-Charge at 129 branch locations across India.

A Branch In-Charge will be responsible for managing the overall administration and day-to-day operations of the assigned ICAI branch. The selected person will work closely with the Branch Management Committee, ICAI members, students, employees and external stakeholders.

The position requires the candidate to coordinate branch programmes, supervise employees, manage branch resources, maintain records, resolve member and student grievances, monitor branch performance and ensure that all activities comply with the policies and instructions issued by ICAI’s Head Office.

Candidates will be selected through a 425-mark Computer-Based Test followed by a personal interview. The final merit list will be prepared by combining the marks secured in the CBT and interview.

The selected candidates may be posted at any of the 129 ICAI branch locations listed in the official advertisement.

Although applicants can give three location preferences within one selected region, ICAI is not bound to provide a posting at one of the preferred branches. Selected candidates may be posted at any branch based on the Institute’s administrative requirements.

  • The candidate must be between 27 and 40 years of age as of 30 June 2026.
  • Applicants for Category I, II and III branches must possess at least five years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
  • Applicants for Category IV, V and VI branches must possess at least three years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
  • The experience must have been obtained after completing the prescribed educational qualification.

  • Part-time employment and freelance assignments will not be counted.
  • Articleship, internship or training completed as part of an academic or professional qualification will not be treated as eligible work experience.

Candidates must possess a graduate degree from a recognised university.

ICAI has not restricted eligibility to a particular graduation stream. Therefore, candidates who have completed a recognised bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, Science, Management, Engineering or another discipline may apply, provided they fulfil the age and post-qualification experience conditions.

Candidates should ensure that their degree is awarded by a university or institution recognised by the competent educational or statutory authority.

ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection procedure includes the following stages:

The CBT carries 425 marks, and candidates must obtain at least 170 marks to qualify. Candidates who qualify in the test and satisfy the eligibility requirements will be called for the interview.

The minimum qualifying mark for the interview is 30 marks. The marks obtained in the interview will be added to the CBT marks, and final selection will be based on the combined performance of the candidate.

The Computer-Based Test will have both multiple-choice and descriptive questions. The examination will be conducted in English and will have a duration of three hours.

Candidates can choose their preferred examination centre while completing the online form. Final centre allocation will depend on seat availability and administrative feasibility. Requests for a change of examination centre will not be accepted after allotment.

Branch In-Charge – 129 Vacancies

The Branch In-Charge will serve as the principal administrative and operational coordinator of the assigned ICAI branch.

The person will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the branch, coordinating with the Management Committee, assisting members and students, supervising employees and implementing policies issued by the Head Office.

This position is suitable for graduates with experience in administration, office management, team supervision, stakeholder coordination, accounting support or institutional operations. Compensation and experience requirements will depend on the category of the allotted branch.

Selected candidates will initially be placed on probation for one year. The probation period may be extended where performance is found unsatisfactory.
