RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 Job Full Description
The Railway Recruitment Boards have invited online applications from eligible candidates for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 under Centralised Employment Notification CEN No. 02/2026. This recruitment drive is being conducted to fill Technician Grade I Signal and various Technician Grade III positions in Indian Railways.
Technician Grade I Signal is a Pay Level 5 position in the Signal and Telecommunication Department. Candidates selected for this position may be involved in the inspection, maintenance, testing and technical support of railway signalling, electronic and communication systems. The exact duties will be assigned by the concerned Railway Administration after appointment.
Technician Grade III vacancies are available in several technical departments, including Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal and Telecommunication, Workshops and Production Units. These positions cover technical trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Carpenter, Diesel Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic and other notified trades.

RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 Job Location
The selected candidates may be posted anywhere within the Railway Zone, Production Unit, workshop, diesel shed, electrical shed, signal unit, track machine unit or other Railway establishment falling under the RRB and post preference selected by the candidate.
A newly appointed employee does not have an automatic right to seek transfer to another Railway. The notification states that transfer requests to another Railway may not be registered until the employee completes the prescribed period of service, which may range from five to ten years.

RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must satisfy all of the following eligibility conditions:
They must fulfil the nationality or citizenship conditions prescribed in the notification. Eligible applicants include citizens of India and certain other categories, such as citizens of Nepal or Bhutan and specified persons of Indian origin, subject to obtaining a Government of India eligibility certificate wherever required.

For most Technician Grade III positions, candidates must have passed Matriculation or SSLC and possess an ITI certificate from an NCVT- or SCVT-recognised institution in the relevant trade. A Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the corresponding notified trade is also accepted.
An Engineering Diploma or Degree will not normally be accepted in place of ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship for Level 2 Technician posts unless the particular post specifically allows it.

Technician Grade I Signal is a higher-level technical post carrying Pay Level 5. The position is associated with the Signal and Telecommunication Department of Indian Railways.
